SAN JOSE, Calif. – Acceleration Business City (ABC) announced today its first American accelerator location with a launch in San José. Nearly two years since its founding in Europe, ABC has become one of the top twenty-five accelerators in the world. The new Silicon Valley location will also serve as global
headquarters to the company that maintains offices in Slovenia and Germany, and will soon open India and Chile. Downtown San José has been selected as the Bay Area site which will house on average thirty-six entrepreneurs at any given time.
“We have completely flipped the accelerator model on its head,” says ABC founder and CEO Dejan Roljic. “The disruption we create is not toward companies it’s the entire accelerator industry.”
ABC will recruit the finest international startups, introduce them to Silicon Valley’s wealth of resources and capital, and involve them in the dynamic creativity and exceptional driving forces of the area. Before being invited to join ABC’s Silicon Valley location, entrepreneurs will have had to succeed at accelerator platforms in two other locations. The San Jose location will serve as a bridge between the best European startups and Silicon Valley investors and mentors. ABC Silicon Valley will serve as a global home to the best startups that have already raised investments and garnered market traction and are ready for the highest level of Silicon Valley awareness.
“I’m proud to welcome Acceleration Business City to San José, as well as the dozens of promising European start-up companies they will be serving,” said San José Mayor Sam Liccardo. “As a center for global technology innovation, San José is the perfect location for entrepreneurs and innovators from around the world. We are confident that ABC will feel right at home alongside the growing number of tech companies who are choosing to locate in Downtown San Jose.”
ABC has tapped internationally respected entrepreneur, philanthropist and speaker Ana Lukner to serve as managing director for the Silicon Valley office. Additionally, directors have been named to the board from a wide range of backgrounds: publicist and strategist Nicholas Adams, president of NINICO Communications; land use expert Joshua Burroughs, senior director of SWENSON; tech manager Sunny Saini of Google; entrepreneur Bill Wiles, CEO of WFW International; and strategic advisor Jeff Burton, member of the founding team of Electronic Arts.
“We have assembled such an impressive board to help us lead the way in San José and beyond,” says Ms. Lukner. “I am looking forward to partnering with our directors, mentors and community champions.”
ABC Silicon Valley will officially launch on September 24, 2016, with a ribbon cutting and invitation-only VIP reception. Media and cameras are invited to the ribbon cutting ceremony with San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo and other dignitaries.
