Housing Site Explorer

Welcome to The City of San José Housing Site Explorer, an interactive, web-based map and data site to help identify potential sites for new housing development.

With this map, you can explore all properties in the City, using a wide range of filters and search shortcuts to pinpoint a specific property, explore a specific neighborhood or develop a list of properties that meet a set of your criteria.

Every property in the City has a detailed parcel page that offers a wide variety of relevant data on the property, We offer some pre-defined filter sets that flag properties of interest, for instance, properties that meet the criteria for the City’s “1.5-acre” rule that allows for infill affordable development on commercial properties.

HOW TO USE THE MAP

Best viewed in Chrome browser, the map first appears as a mass of colored dot across the city of San Jose. As you zoom in, the actual shapes of the parcels appear. Clicking on a parcel and then on the address in the box will open a detailed parcel profile.

You can also conduct a smart search by address or street name.

To find properties appropriate for development, use the filter tools on the left, allowing a targeted search, for instance, for properties of a certain size in a mixed-use neighborhood.

The tool also allows you to create a data spreadsheet of your search results, and you can add or modify the search terms right from the spreadsheet.
