What We Love: This cute little village is nestled along the backdrop of the spectacular San José foothills, is home to the famous Burnt Almond Cake at Peters’ Bakery, and is a great place to shop for Western wear.

District Tips: Whether you are having guest or just want to treat yourself, grab a dozen or two tamales from Tamale Factory. This wonderful Mexican staple comes in pork, chicken, jalapeño cheese, and chicken chile verde varieties. You will want to try them all.

Kid Fun: Check out the activities at the Dr. Roberto Cruz Alum Rock Branch Library followed by a refreshing juice at Mary’s Paleteria Y Neveria.

Celebrating as a Couple: Watch the sunset over the city from the Sierra Vista Point followed by dinner at Las Delicias Restaurant.

El Rodeo Menswear (3100 Alum Rock Ave.) This store may look small but it is full of rows of cowboy hats, belts, shirts, jeans, and a huge selection of boots for men and women.

J&C Handcraft Planters & More (3140 Alum Rock Ave.) Planters and other wares by Mexican artists who capture the artisan soul in colorful and handcrafted ceramics.

Josmarc Perfumes (3151 Alum Rock Ave.) This perfume shop specializes in perfumes, jewelry, clothing, and footwear.

Kiana’s Joyeria Reparaciones (3139 Alum Rock Ave.) Kiana specializes in jewelry repair and designs in gold and silver.

San José Flowers (32 S. White Rd.) This family business takes pride in their customer service. They enjoy customizing your arrangements, and adding those special requests. They recommend bouquets of roses because they make a good gift for any occasion.

Las Delicias Restaurant (3130 Alum Rock Ave.) This family owned restaurant has been serving fresh homemade Mexican gourmet food since 2000. Their most popular items are handmade quesadillas and Barbacoa de Borrego.

Mary’s Paleteria (2 N. White Rd.) Mary’s offers fresh jamon torta, pierna torta, hotdog, cajita feliz, raspados, chamoyada, diablito and smoothies.

Peters’ Bakery (3108 Alum Rock Ave.) Since the founding of Peters’ Bakery in 1936, their motto has remained: "If you would not eat it yourself, don't sell it.". Their most popular item? The burnt almond cake.

Primo’s Deli (3054 Alum Rock Ave.) This small family deli uses the freshest ingredients and breads to craft the perfect sandwich and strives for perfection and consistency in every sandwich and every bite.
