The San José placemark was developed by the City of San José, with City funds and a grant from the Knight Foundation, to represent the spirit of San José, a geographic place with history, culture and opportunity, home to the country’s most diverse population and the world’s most innovative businesses.
To encourage the use of the San José placemark — to enhance awareness of San José and its unique character — it is now available for use by the community, free of charge. In offering the placemark, we ask that our brand guidelines (below) be adhered to.
The City of San José requests that the placemark NOT be used in the following ways:
- As a design element within an organization or business name.
- In association with regulated or illegal substances, such as tobacco, alcohol, marijuana, etc.
- To promote or advocate for a political or legislative issue.
The City reserves the right to ask an organization or individual to cease use of the placemark if we deem the use inappropriate.
